The day started very well because arrive early to class, I learned about this topic and also we leave early.
First, the teacher said: work with the same people, so I'm working with Ana, the first activity was read about what is Reading Comprehension Strategies, it is divided into six ways for one to understand, which are:
• Make Connections: pieces of text that relate to or remind them of, examples: their lives, past experiences and prior knowledge. Tips: that reminds me of.., this made me think of.. .
• Visualize: create pictures in their minds while they read, examples: I can picture.., I can see the.., I can visualize.. .
• Ask Questions: questions before, during and after reading to better understand the author and the meaning of the text, example: ask some questions -> what is the author trying to say?, what is the message of this piece?, Do I know something about this topic?.
• Infer: when the answers are “right there” good readers draw conclusions based on background knowledge and clues in the text, ask yourself: I wonder why.., I wonder how.., I wonder if.. .
• Determine Importance: things that help them identify big ideas and why they are important, some clues are: titles and headings, bold print, pictures and captions. Some Tips: the big idea is.., most important information is.. .
• Synthesize: combine new information from their reading whit existing knowledge in order to form new ideas or interpretations, some tips are: think of new ways to use this information and, compare and contrast what I'm reading with what I already know or other sources of information.
The next activity was read about what is Narration, exposition, definition, description, comparison, process analysis and cause and effect.
Next we worked in a small practice and we leave early.
What I liked the most is this topic, it's not so complicated and I felt good because we finished the practice.
