Reading Report "The Pursuit of Happyness"
This book brought forth not just the hardcore, hideous and horribly unforgivable past that Chris went through, in fact he shocked me at many instances by being upfront about the abuse his step-father gave him, the incident of being raped by a neighbor, his lust for women, sexual moments which were, if not detailed at least graphically blurted out and the grave mistakes he made in his life.
When I put the book down, I asked myself, why would such a public figure do that? Isn’t it risky to do so? He could have portrayed himself as a saint. A perfect guy. A great role-model. He could have kept hidden the deep, dark and diabolical aspects of his life. And no one would have even doubted him. Then why did he open up so much?
I feel in his quest of confessing everything including his weakness, he achieved our love and respect for his greatness.
What made him stand out in my eyes was that he was not afraid to show the side that made him human; even to the point of his honesty making him a target for being hated. And his courage to be sincere and honest, earned him the crown of respect.
Personally, I felt the raw power of truth leap out of this book.
Though the book contains strong language of sex and violence, I felt this was a very welcoming change compared to all the white-wash we get nowadays. And the underlining message was very clear – Life isn’t all that perfect. We are not perfect. And our lives will never be perfect. But yes, in the end we need to find what makes us and keeps us happy.
Overall a beautiful, honest, brutal and captivating book that shows you the incredible power and resilience one man possessed against unbelievable odds.

Today arrive early to school and work on the same computer, the teacher said we had to finish everything and make the presentation for Friday, also said that tomorrow will not have classes.
What I was started to order the project and the table of contents, so I asked for help to Roslin, also I walked by all computers seeing the work of my colleagues, I was bored.
Today not buy anything to eat, because eat breakfast at home, when finished the all project I started making the presentation, which I could not finish it why the internet was giving much trouble, the teacher told us to go and we finished at home.
When we left I went with Ivan, Erick Fernando, Vladimir, Marcela and Mariangel to buy us an ice cream and sit and watch the birds, being there began to remember the first day of the course, We began to remember those who did not last the first month in the course, to say that each one thought the first time we met, the truth was fun, then we saw other fellow course very alone, and I take their picture, then we all went to the house of each, but I went with Marcela, Mariangel and Fernando, because we were going through the same place, that was it for today.
What I liked the most is eat a ice cream with my classmates and I felt bored in class because the Internet don't work well.
Journal #7 29/09/15
Today comes a little late for class, I sat down to work on a different computer, the teacher told us to finish the project in the body, also type the abstract and the bibliography of the project.
The teacher told us we had to go to a meeting, we worked in order and silence and that "we" in the body of the project talk about more things such as:
- His family
- His childhood
- About Hitler's family, all brothers (a total of five) only reach adulthood and his sister Paula, a person with psychological limitations.
- His father, far from being affectionate, used to stick to Adolf (Adi among their relatives) young man that made his character to harden, getting to tell his personal secretary "Then I took the decision not to mourn anymore when my father whipped me. A few days later I had the opportunity to test my will. My mother, frightened, hid in front of the door. As for me, I counted silently the blows of the stick which lashed my rear. "
I could finish everything I started making the abstract, I was hard to do, I was very tired:
- The author of this research, wants readers to know the life of Adolf Hitler was good for many people and was very bad for other people and in this time for any people in the world, because he was a monster, when the author refers a monster is because Hitler Germany wanted a superior race, and he only Hitler just thought, to conquer territories and expand its power.
All finished, I only need to sort.
What a liked the most is the all history of mi project and I feel tired the true.

Today arrive early to class, work in one of the latest computers, beside Vladimir, then the teacher started the class with some news about the play and told us what we had to do in the day, we started to do the project introduction and body of the project, which was four and a half pages, first teacher comes in to check on what we did, what we already had the project, and I corrected a lot, then I started with the introduction, my introduction is like:
- After being rejected by several schools of Fine Arts in Vienna, the young Adolf Hitler refused to accept an ordinary job and became homeless. He nearly died of hunger and cold and sick mind led him to be convinced that the Jews were to blame for all the ills of mankind. Such was the man who years later, thanks to his skills as an orator and his iron will became Fuhrer.
- In this project the author develop those outstanding issues that have to do with Adolf Hitler, the policy of National Socialism (Nazism) and everything that has to do with leadership, as well as will go with emphasis on the psychological side of Hitler and that meant, then, its final ascent to power.
And for the body of the project was start with the outline: example:
- Who was Adolf Hitler
-
- Hitler was born in Braunau on the river Inn, Austria, on April 20 1889, the son of a customs officer, he began his primary education in 1895. In 1898 the family moved to Linz, Hitler regarded as his hometown.
I wrote more obvious but I can not write everything here.
What I liked the most is write the introduction, I feel tired when I started writing the body of the project.

Today I wake up early, because the play had to go to another lecture at nine o'clock but Ina in Marina, I had to get off at 7:30 bus to be early, went down with Daniel and run some errands before going to take the bus to the Marina, We were leaving together but no signs of life, so we decided to go first, Daniel called Veronica but said he was still asleep, when we were in the bus Veronica told that if we wanted we got to the house, but he said it too late, when we arrived at the Marina, at the bus stop, there was a phone, someone forgot, I grip and saw if it was locked, not to be check contacts, he was a contact saying mom, so we called to report what happened, but Daniel was speaking, said a lady answered and Daniel told him he would leave the Guardian phone with Ina, the end Daniel said she did not say thank you. Then we told the guard what happened and gave it to him, then went to wait for the talk, we did go to the library and people began to arrive, but our classmates were late.
The first was a talk about everything we do in Heredia, how to behave, respect schedules and help each other as a team.
Then we did an activity to go acclimating to others, after activity got a snack that was delicious, I repeated four times, for the second activity was, watching a movie and put enough attention, then we had to talk about the values of the film and say how to apply them in the Olympics to assist them in Heredia.
Then it was time to eat, which I did not know that everyone had to buy food, except that we also spoke to the manager and asked if we could withdraw, the teacher had told us that until noon, the manager contacted Professor and let us retreat.
We all went to take bus and came to eat at my house, at the end we do not know what would happen to the cell.
What I liked most is the movie and I felt bad because the people in Ina he did not give us food.
Journal #4 21/09/15
Today we did not have classes but the teacher told us we had to go to a talk at 10 in Ciudad Quesada Ina and also to practice what the play.
I arrive late because I do not participate directly in the play, I mean I do not have to say anything, just help with the stage, when it comes, my teammates were practicing scripts, then came a gentleman and a lady who really do not remember the names, first lady began with a talk about where we are going to stay in Heredia, as we behave, also the departure time of Ciudad Quesada was Heredia, days go be there, when we presented the play, also spoke about the times that are established must meet them on time, and we have to support each other as a one team, I mean many participants ranging from the north.
Then came a pastry course girls and that Mr. we started giving a talk on organic blue flag on waste and others, as the gala donated Ina wants to medal in a massive event, well understood something, did some exercises, we first divided into four groups, we made us write down everything we were going to take the trip, everything that can be recycled, and that material is made, at first seemed easy, but discovered there, after the things that were going to take had to choose we were bringing and was left in Heredia, I mean for example the stage, we would do with it, if we left it there what effect or what impact is recycled, it is countable or not!?
The truth if we learned a lot and came away with the conclusion of trying to make the least impact with everything, I mean the water that we have there, if we buy something to eat or drink, which ended those packages, that impact will and so on.
Something curious is that just saying: “es que esa es la vara”, when Vladimir asked about something you could wear or not, amused by the end of everything not said if it had or not. And that was all the talk, very helpful.
What I liked the most is Talk Mr., and I felt very good because I learned many important things.
Journal #3 18/09/15
Today the day started bad, because arrive late to class, when arrive to the classroom the teacher had already explained to do, I was embarrassed to ask we had to do and Fernando told me to do, we had to make the justification of the project and write a general objective and two specific, using something called: Bloom's Taxonomy.
In my language it would be, fine words to speak well.
The problem of not arrive early to miss the explanation and did not ask was that I would write almost a full page to the objectives, until it was Professor and said he would help me, that's where all improved, my objectives were:
• General Objective
- To provide readers with important information of Nazism.
• Two Specific objectives
- To illustrate readers how was Hitler´s power.
- To show readers the beginning and the end of Hitler.
And justification for me if I was difficult because it is tired writing and find information, a little of what I wrote was for justification:
- According to the web site page called History I´m to explain about the Hitler, problems of Nazism and some details of the life in the old Germany and also in this project we have seen, at present acts and acts of violence that infringe on certain social groups, they are treated so called acts of racial discrimination. We notion of ideology that is present and that is the reason that justify these acts of discrimination, this ideology is neo Nazism and have chosen to develop a report that allows us to go deeper on the subject.
I miss to write more, but the teacher said that we finished in the house and that is what we sent the mail, but I really think I have to correct many things, most of all some definitions.
What I liked the most is the the help of the teacher and I felt tired for read a lot in the website pages.

Reading Report #2
The Rose That Grew From Concrete
I personally think that Tupac was a great writer and rapper. Just a great human being all around, that had a pretty rough life. Like it says in” If I Fail","There was never a life as hard as mine. No father, no money, no chance and no guide." Although I don't know much of his history by logic and I don't really hear a lot of his rap, I thought I would give this book a chance.
I have a classmate that all he hears is pretty much Tupac, and he always wants me to be listening. I wasn't ever interested till my other friend showed me this book. At first I thought to give it a chance just see what was all the "listen to this", and "listen to that", about. And well of course, the cover is awesome, it brought my attention right away.
This book isn't really a story, but it depends how you look at it. It's mostly like poems and lyrics to his songs, but they are based on his life. For example the poem "Under he Skies" says "My child is out there somewhere under the skies above", he's talking about his daughter. Most of these poems got to my heart. They explain so much feeling and love out to the reader. My favorite poem out of all was "And Still I Love U". This poem just brought so much feeling into me, it was sad but really romantic. "Even if u changed your mind and said our love was thru I'd want to die continuously cry and still I'd love you", that quote just hit me. But, even if this book made me sad at times, I got to admit it is one of my favorite books. Not because you don't need allot of logic to read it or because its not a 500 page book, but because of what it made me feel.
He's writing style is not really professional. It more like slang, but it's understandable. I think the reason the book was published like this is because it was never meant to be published. It was just he's own poems and lyrics to keep to him self. But, after he's death it was important for people to recognize what he was about, and I’m glad I got that opportunity.
Honestly, I really liked this book, I thought it was pretty amazing. I think that he's writing is really heartwarming and wonderful. I am actually more into his music now, I actually listen to the lyrics rather than just the beat. I think this book is much like other love & life poetry books, but different at the same time. Just because the fact that is Tupac, I think that's what makes this book have many more hits.
I really encourage you to read this book. It will show you the kind of person that Tupac really was. Always remember "Don't judge a book by its cover."
Bears
They are large animals, usually omnivores since, despite their formidable teeth, eat fruits, roots and insects, in addition to meat. However, the polar bear, because of the shortage of other sources of food, feeds almost exclusively meat. With their heavy bodies and powerful jaws, the bears are among the largest carnivores who live on Earth.
A male polar bear weighs on average 500 kg and reaches a height of 130 cm at the height of the cross.
They move with a heavy walking, supporting all the soles. They have short ears and tail rudimentary.
The sense of hearing and sight are not good, but they have an excellent nose. Hibernation, this is the ability to remain half asleep during the time of year when the weather is unfavorable, it is a common phenomenon, at least among the species Ursus.
In Europe there are several subspecies of bears such as the grizzly or brown bear European stretching from the Iberian peninsula to Russia.
Currently they are living in America four species of bears, and as stated previously, there are fossil records that certify a greater diversity in the past.
The pair bond lasts a few days, and males do not cooperate in breeding.
Bears are magnificent animals to which I have always thought that establish respect, that's why I like it so much that animal.
Society
Nothing is as before, but of evolution we can not complain ah been good in terms of technological innovations. However more every day goes from bad to worse with insecurity but we can do, just try not to let them play and not be bad to help people younger than that is not the right path and then learn to live with it and never lose faith in that everything is bad solution.
Also feel that society is possessed by the demon of the market, that is within us all, appropriates our actions without anyone noticing his disembodied presence dominates the world.
"Society" is so large, complex and sometimes more absurd than to worry about the whole I think it's smarter to search the corner to live in it more comfortable.
To all this I said the truth is that surely can not be reasonably accurate analysis of all societies way, so each analysis will depend on what each touch.
I was once an inveterate pessimist, not sure why, but I was not happy with it touched me to see, somehow continue to be so because I still be. Still ah come to seem more disappointing some of the ways to raise the issue with a general skepticism toward humanity that comes from being echos the same material as what is criticized. So Far I'm doing now.
"The more I know men, the more I love my dog"
Famous phrase, but I refuse to accept it at this time, this new form of humanity that seeks to contemplate all, is actually as much or more selfless than before, one is shocked, outraged and screams are higher.
Junk Food
Potentially, all foods are harmful to health if abused consumption, but those garbage are considered food do more by needed smaller quantities to cause side effects, or consumed in larger amounts, given its ease of use (fast food) or social use of consumption (which consume most young people).
Often associated with the consumption of junk food obesity, heart disease, type II diabetes, tooth decay and cellulite. Junk food gives the consumer fats, cholesterol, sugar and salt.
Fast food restaurants offer course these foods, but also supermarket chains also offer the market such junk food.
A considerable intake of junk food (eg, cheese burger, fries or tortilla chips, sweetened sugary drink and dessert) can contain 9200 kJ (2200 kcal), which, at a rate of 350 kJ (85 kcal) by mile marathon would require to be burned.
The mechanism of propaganda of the fast food restaurants (largely classifiable as junk food) makes this index has more buzz, creating serious health problems in children.
The waste itself, food is a commodity in the eyes of industry must be sold on a large scale for profit from it; no matter the nutritional value of it, but as many sales as possible. Junk food is a reflection of an economy that is based on a capitalist and consumerist society. Therefore, from many points of view, junk food is no damage and good for society.
Eating habits we have acquired over time and modern life, they have become a habit that threatens health. Some of the junk foods, common in many homes are: hamburgers, hot dogs, potato chips, tortilla chips, some frozen for microwave preparation products, soft drinks and sweets among others. Fresh tomato or lettuce that come with some of these foods is all that garbage should not be considered, because it contains vitamins and fiber.
The trouble is that junk food tastes good.
Social Networks
People have always related groups: family, work, sentimental, etc. In a social network are interconnected individuals interact and can have more than one type of relationship.
Social networking sites:
Social networking sites are web applications that promote contact between individuals. These people may previously know or do it through the network. Contact through the network can lead to direct knowledge or even the formation of new couples.
Social networking sites are based on links between its members. There are several types of social networks:
1. generic social networks: They are the most numerous and well known. The most widespread in Spain are Facebook, Instagram, Google+ and Twitter.
2. Social networking professionals: Its members are occupationally related. They can be used to connect to colleagues or job search. The best known are LinkedIn, Xing and Viadeo.
3. vertical or thematic social networks: They are based on a particular topic. They can link people with the same hobby, the same activity or the same role. The most famous are Flickr, Pinterest and YouTube.
Music
The music, like any art form, is a cultural product. The purpose of this art is to provoke an aesthetic experience in the listener, and express feelings, emotions, circumstances, thoughts or ideas. The music is a stimulus that affects the perceptual field of the individual; Thus, the flow of sound can fulfill varied functions (entertainment, communication, environment, fun, etc.).
According to the composer Claude Debussy, music is "a total of scattered forces expressed in a sound process that includes: the instrument, the performer, the creator and his work, a propagation medium and receiver system."
Regardless of what the various musical practices of different peoples and cultures have in common, it is important not to lose sight of the diversity in terms of the instruments used to make music, as to the forms of the voice cast, as to the forms to treat the rhythm and melody, and, above all, about the role of music in different societies is not the same music you hear on a religious celebration, the music you hear on an ad advertising, or danced in a nightclub.
Th music is good for health, some instruments promote better performance in the brai.
Mentally, also it called music theory useful to facilitate learning in other languages. Important features of the music, such as pitch, timbre, intensity and rhythm, have much to do with the variations of the different languages spoken. Each of these has a different accent, music and discover the different tones, timbres and rhythms that might be attached to the different languages.
Harvard and the University of California have found that the practice of musical instruments makes the two cerebral hemispheres form new connections, whose realization causes the brain to have better performance in the fields of concentration, memory and learning.

The Good Writing
I. How to know if a good writing
A. Why we write
B. Who reads what we write
II. Contexts that should lead?
A. Why be eloquent with words
At the Writing Center, we’re often asked “What makes good writing?” or “What makes someone a good writer?” Instructors wonder whether anyone can really be taught to write and why their students don’t know how to write by know. To begin to understand what makes writing, and writers, “good,” we need to ask the larger question “What is writing?”
It’s easy to agree on the definition of writing if we limit it to something like “putting pen to paper” or “typing ideas into a computer.” But if we look more closely at the elements of the act of writing, the definition comes to life. The following paragraphs might prompt your thinking about how writing happens for your students and for you.
We write because we are reacting to someone or something. While writing can feel like an isolating, individual act just you and the computer or pad of paper it is really a social act, a way in which we respond to the people and world around us. Writing happens in specific, often prescribed contexts. We are not just writing we are always writing to an audience for some particular purpose. When we write, we do so because we want, need, or have been required to create a fixed space for someone to receive and react to our ideas. Understanding this social or rhetorical context who our readers maybe, why they want to read our ideas, when and where they will be reading, how they might view us as writers governs some of the choices we make. The writing context requires writers to have a sense of the reader’s expectations and an awareness of conventions for a particular piece of writing. The context of the piece further determines the appropriate tone, level of vocabulary, kind and placement of evidence, genre, and sometimes even punctuation.
It may seem obvious, but in order to get something on the page, a writer chooses the words, the order of the words in the sentence, the grouping of sentences into paragraphs, and the order of the paragraphs within a piece. While there is an ordinariness about this we make choices or decisions almost unconsciously about many things all day long with writing, as we have all experienced, such decision making can be a complex process, full of discovery, despair, determination, and deadlines. Making decisions about words and ideas can be a messy, fascinating, perplexing experience that often results in something mysterious, something the writer may not be sure “works” until she has auditioned it for a real reader.
I wrote this based on Google pages in which to investigate. .
Journal #5 (27/08/15)
Today we did not have classes but the teacher told us that we made a Journal of all we did today, I'll detail everything that happened in my day:
First I woke up at 10 am, check the phone, I started to play zombies vs plants, 1 and 2, also check the Springfield game, there had to accommodate the city and finally I played the game 8 ball pool, by the way, I lost in three shifts I played, then I slept for about twenty five minutes later, I got up, I went to drink water and I returned to the room to order the bed, as eleven-thirty I looked some breakfast, I prepared a hot chocolate with bread and cheese. My mother arrived at about twelve noon, she asked me if I had eaten and I answer yes, then she told me to bring my grandfather that I was not alone in the house, I went to get him and was talking to him about the arrangements being made in front of my house, a friend wrote me through WhatsApp that if he could go play soccer, to which I replied yes, at that moment a friend wrote me and told me to accompany some errands in Ciudad Quesada, then I had to bathe and get off at bus at two in the afternoon, when it comes, she had already done everything, so I just talked until four in the afternoon, at that time had to go play, she accompanied me, when I come to the field, there were Marce and Mariangel doing exercises in the gym there, the salute and went to change clothes, the game was strong, we lost but I could do three goals.
After the game we went to lunch and returned to my house at eight in the evening, ate more and started to do the work that's due Monday.
What I liked the most was the nice and hard game and I felt good because I could do three goals.
Journal #4 (26/08/15)
The day started very good because arrive early to class, today I couldn't have to breakfast because I wake up late, so if I put to eat, I lost the bus.
The problem was, when the teacher told us go to buy something to eat, I did not go because I thought if I had breakfasted, my stomach to strange sounds.
Started working in the same groups, I'm work with Ana and Wendy.
We begin working with pages that the teacher gave us, first was, read all pages and try to understand, the pages was about the Rappers, West Coast rappers by east coast.
Next was, to summarize everything we read, had to be fifteen lines, some things we wrote were:
- “hip hop emerged in the 1970s on the streets of South Bronx.”
- “in the early 1990s hip hop functioned to give the black community a voice in the public sphere.”
- “the music video contained violent gestures towards Eazy-E and Dr. Dre look a likes, as well as DJ Quik.”
These are some sentences, it's the idea about to write the summary.
Next activity was write paraphrasing, we wrote that: everything begins in early 1970s, disclosed singers and groups from different neighborhoods, but what meant the finer the war against Notorious vs 2pac. Obviously they are missing more things to write, but to get an idea.
The latter was reviewing the work with other groups and left early.
What I liked the most is work in groups and I felt tired because I don't like a lot read.

Journal #3 (24/08/15)
The day started well because arrive early to class, today if I could have breakfast, so when the teacher told us to go and buy something to eat, I did not because it was full.
Started working on the pages we had to print today, we work in the same groups, but Wendy joined us.
The first was: Reading Comprehension about Football, we had to read and answer eight questions, simple truth. and the other reading comprehension was about “What Brings about Changes in Science?”, but that read was more tedious, we had to read and answer six questions.
When we finished, the teacher only revised page Football, I do not understand, why not reviewed the other.
The next was read on various topics, I will explain one to one:
What is Paraphrasing?: is a way of presenting a text, keeping the same meaning, but using different words and phrasing.
What is a Summary?: is an overview of a text. The main idea is given, but details, examples and formalities are left out. Used with longer texts, the main aim of summarising is to reduce or condense a text it’s most important ideas.
What is a Quotation?: is an exact reproduction of spoken or written words. Direct quotes can provide strong evidence, act as an authoritative voice, or support a writer’s statements.
What is Plagiarism?: is the unauthorized or uncredited use of the writings or ideas of another in your writing.
What is APA?: is reading style.
Last activity was identified in a long text: Quoting, made a summary and paraphrase.
Today we leave early, it helped me to study for tomorrow's exam.
What I liked the most is work in groups and I felt good and the same time tired, because read is tired.

Journal #2 (21/08/15)
The day started very good because arrive early to class, when I went to school, I thought that went out earlier today, which we were not going to give recess, so buy an orange juice that I could not have breakfast in the morning.
We started seeing the last topic for the test of Tuesday, the topic was: Topic Sentence; is the most important sentence of a paragraph, it states the main idea and introduces the reader to the topic.
We worked with the same people, so I work with Ana. The first activity was read texts and identify the topic sentence, next was, read more and writing a topic sentence for each paragraph.
Next, we read about that what is Supporting Sentences, and the definition is: supporting sentences develop the main idea in the topic sentence. They add details to the topic. Following that, we read several texts and recognizing supporting sentences.
Next, we read about that what Irrelevant Sentences, and the definition is: every supporting sentence in a paragraph must relate to the main idea stated in the topic sentence. A sentence that does not support the main idea does not belong in the paragraph, thus such a sentence should be omitted, when a sentence does not belong in a paragraph, it is called an irrelevant sentence. Following that, we read several texts and recognizing irrelevant sentences.
Next, we read about that what is concluding sentences, and the definition is: this sentences states the main idea of the paragraph again using different words, it summarizes the main points of the paragraph, or makes a final comment on the topic. Following that, we read several texts and writing concluding sentences.
Next we read about “reading comprehension guidelines” and we work in a big practice, but we leave early.
What I liked the most is the topic, because is easy but I felt tired because It is tedious to read much.

Journal #1 (20/08/15)
Today topic was: Reading Comprehension Strategies.
The day started very well because arrive early to class, I learned about this topic and also we leave early.
First, the teacher said: work with the same people, so I'm working with Ana, the first activity was read about what is Reading Comprehension Strategies, it is divided into six ways for one to understand, which are:
• Make Connections: pieces of text that relate to or remind them of, examples: their lives, past experiences and prior knowledge. Tips: that reminds me of.., this made me think of.. .
• Visualize: create pictures in their minds while they read, examples: I can picture.., I can see the.., I can visualize.. .
• Ask Questions: questions before, during and after reading to better understand the author and the meaning of the text, example: ask some questions -> what is the author trying to say?, what is the message of this piece?, Do I know something about this topic?.
• Infer: when the answers are “right there” good readers draw conclusions based on background knowledge and clues in the text, ask yourself: I wonder why.., I wonder how.., I wonder if.. .
• Determine Importance: things that help them identify big ideas and why they are important, some clues are: titles and headings, bold print, pictures and captions. Some Tips: the big idea is.., most important information is.. .
• Synthesize: combine new information from their reading whit existing knowledge in order to form new ideas or interpretations, some tips are: think of new ways to use this information and, compare and contrast what I'm reading with what I already know or other sources of information.
The next activity was read about what is Narration, exposition, definition, description, comparison, process analysis and cause and effect.
Next we worked in a small practice and we leave early.
What I liked the most is this topic, it's not so complicated and I felt good because we finished the practice.
